Meditations in Captivity explores the
story of Joseph. There are six sessions, each concentrating on a
different aspect of the story. Group participation is encouraged in a
number of different ways, including discussion.
These six group courses, which can be used
individually or as a progressive course of study, explore their subject
in detail, concentrating not on the facts of the stories but on their
spiritual messages.
Each course has six sessions which
focus on a different aspect of the story. A summary at the end of the
book forms a personal and collective response to the previous six weeks
and is done partly as homework and partly as a seventh session with a
social focus.
Each study encourages group participation in
a number of different ways, including discussion, researching
background knowledge and prayer. The material is imaginative, sometimes
humorous, but also scripturally based and challenging, encouraging each
member of the group to seek prayerfully what God is saying to them
today, through Scripture – and then to apply it.
